Choosing an output format
PNG is useful for transparency, screenshots, diagrams, and lossless graphics. JPEG usually creates smaller photographs but cannot preserve transparent pixels. WebP can provide efficient web images in modern browsers. The quality slider affects lossy JPEG and WebP output; it does not improve detail missing from the source.
Before publishing
Open the downloaded file and check dimensions, transparency, color, and visible compression. Converting a small image to a larger format does not increase its real resolution. Keep the original file because repeated lossy conversion can introduce artifacts.
